Gig Worker or Business Owner?

Happy Memorial Day My Cargo Friend. Hope you are near the pool enjoying some hickory smoked BBQ wings.

I am destroying this Mac N Cheese and BBQ chicken my wife made the fam(Thank God for women who Cook).

I was reading this article and saw this….

“To qualify as an independent contractor under New Jersey law, a worker must meet all three parts of the ABC test: they must be free from control or direction; perform work outside the usual course or place of the business; and be engaged in an independently established trade or business.

The rules will take effect Oct. 1, following a 120-day delay after their anticipated publication in early June.”

Business owners were not having it “9,500 comments opposing the Rule”.

Why is this such a Big Deal El Cargo Boss?

First off, most people jump into the Gig business for One Thing….

FREEDOM BABBBBYYY…..

That’s the reason I hate any company who places FORCED DISPATCH on you. Ever experienced that before?

The micromanagement, the inconsideration of your time. Ehhhhhhhhh.....

I’m pretty sure that’s why You chose this lane too or are looking to choose this lane.

I want to be able to wake up everyday in no rush, sip my espresso ☕️, and answer to NO MAN….. Hahaha

No shade to people working a 9-5. Got to get it how you live.

I just highly value my time….

Which leads me to the Second Reason.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE CHEESE 🧀

This reclassification adds significant costs for businesses.

Higher payroll taxes, benefits, workers’ comp.

This will either shrink operator earnings or gets passed to consumers.

The point of people hoping on Gig work is to endlessly chase the cheese(Please let me know if I’m wrong).

Reply back with your thoughts on this Subject-I respond to every email.

Thanks,

PS — I am not really worried about this because my business does not depend on Gig apps like Uber, Lyft, Dispatch, Curri, Go share etc. These platforms are great supplemental income but can't sustain a business. The Unfair Advantage is the Key.

Yesterday definitely didn’t go as planned... After playing basketball 🏀 in Tallahassee, every load I saw was going the opposite direction. Halo(my son) was calling my name. I can see his smile in my head. My wife needed my help. Or she would be cooked at her job the next morning. Should I Choose the Cheese(Money) or Family? Which one did you think I chose? OF COURSE MY FAMILY! I would do anything for them. So i deadheaded home…. Got home at 3am. No rest. I was Exhausted. Only for my Family....

Today was a phone call type of day. El Cargo Boss Hotline was blowing up. I felt like a Mobile call center. I spoke to at least 10 different people... Two conversations stuck out to me the most. First with RWS Express (My cousin). By the way, that's a secret to surviving long drives. Have plenty of valuable conversations on the phone. Next thing you know. BOOM you are 10 minutes from delivery and made a easy 500 macaroonis. RWS Express shared a funny story about how a guy he is mentoring is...
